Benjamin Hilbert, of Louisville, was crossing the busy highway from the Best Western Hotel when he was hit on the east side of the road by a northbound vehicle at 7:12 p.m. Police said he was pinned underneath the car and pronounced dead by responding emergency medical service personnel at 8 p.m.Witnesses at the scene told police that the vehicle tried unsuccessfully to avoid hitting Hilbert.
