- The Southern Illinois volleyball team played 10 sets on the final day the 2009 Saluki Invitational presented by the Hampton Inn to win its third tournament of the season. City officials said Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn are the only hotels in the metro Jefferson City area that don't contribute to the city's Convention and Visitors Bureau. The hotels within the city limits have asked the city to pursue annexation because they believe it's unfair for these hotels to get the benefits of the marketing area without having to charge the lodging tax.
